Alton Rally 2003
The Watercress Line is one of the better known steam railways in Southern England.   It operates in Hampshire between Alton and Alresford.   Each summer it stages a rally and running day, based in Anstey Park in Alton (above left).   It attracts a good mixture of old and new buses (above right) and also vintage cars and commercial vehicles.
Half-cab single-deckers were well represented this year including these entries from London Transport, East Kent and a pre-war Cheetah from Porlock Blue Motors.
One of the attractions of the Alton event is the chance to ride on trains as well as buses.   Both steam locomotives (right) and diesels (upper left) operated on the line giving interconnection opportunities at Medstead and Alresford (lower left).
