 Now that's what I call summer !
Only mad dogs and Scotsmen go out in the midday sun as can be confirmed at  Purmerend bus station (top) on a scorching lunchtime in August 1995.   The posse of NZH DAF/Berkhofs provide regular commuter services to Amsterdam.   Right - Northern General 3628 (A628BCN), an MCW/Metrobus in Tyne & Wear PTE colours in Gateshead bus station in July 1984.   Bottom - Fife and Midland used to jointly operate the (27) service from Glasgow to Leven.   In the 70's Aberhill depot normally provided Leopards, but unusually on this hot July evening in 1976, a bus liveried AEC Reliance (FAC18, AXA218A) was operating through Kirkintilloch.
As Britain waits defiantly for summer to begin, it is comforting to remind ourselves that life really was better in the old days.   Statistically 1976, 1984 and 1995 were some of the hottest and sunniest summers on record.   This feature concentrates on those years - now that's what I call summer !
Now Summer !
