And
then there were three. Left: the last Y-type Leopards -
GCS69V (front); GCS61V, TSJ71S, BSJ917T (back
row). GCS61V suffered a gearbox failure at the end of 2004, so
only the other three remain in service. Middle: 25797
(BSJ917T) in Lewis St. depot. Right: 25769 (GCS69V)
a Girvan stalwart now at Stranraer to replace 26761 (GCS61V),
and 25771 (TSJ71S) at the back of the depot. All
photos above and below taken in December 2004. |

It was 30 year ago
today. It can be difficult to photograph when the sun is low
in the sky as can be seen by these two shots taken exactly 30 years
apart. On the left: Western SMT DL2500 (GCS793N) in January
1976 preparing for the (67) Portpatrick service; on the right: Stagecoach
Western 20715 (K715DAO) in December 2005 preparing for the (430) Newton
Stewart service. Although Dl2500 was already 18 months old by
this point, the paint is still gleaming with reflections. |
