October 2004
Of all the various methods of crossing the Solent to the Isle of Wight, Lymington to Yarmouth is perhaps the least obvious.   Lymington is tucked away in the New Forest and is miles away from Portsmouth and Southampton, both literally and conceptually.  The route is operated by the three so-called C Class vessels - Cenred, Caedmon and Cenwulf - which celebrate their 30th birthday this year.   Both harbours nestle in yacht marinas which lend a real seafaring air to the experience.   This is more of a glide than a sail to the Isle of Wight.
