Partick Thistle Scottish Second Division Champions 2000-2001
Partick Thistle were promoted as champions of Scottish Division 2 on Saturday 14th April 2001 due to a 2-2 draw at Forfar Athletic.   After scoring early in the first half, they surrendered the lead to the home team with two goals before half time.   However a late equaliser, and the loss of Arbroath at Queen of the South ensured that Partick were declared Champions at the end of the match.   Fortunately the Forfar staff were well prepared and there was a quick blast of Queen's "We are the Champions" during the lap of honour.   It didn't matter that the bridies had run out before half time, Partick were back in the big time.
Spot the ball.   Forfar Athletic's main stand has been strategically built such that most spectators only see about 90% of the pitch.   Partick were already leading 1-0 when this view was taken in the middle of the first half.
Partick fans take advantage of some pre-match refreshment at the C mmercial Hotel opposite the Forfar stadium. After the final whistle, the team reappeared to the jubilation of the sizeable travelling support.
